Miniclip is looking for a Systems Administrator to hire in our Derby (UK) Games Development Studio.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience with some of the new technologies along with working from the very beginning on new projects and new services.
What will you be doing at Miniclip?
As a systems administrator we expect you to perform daily enterprise-wide server administration tasks and provide support for enterprise systems and services on our Cloud infrastructure and Microsoft Windows Server platforms, including but not limited to Active Directory, Azure, Office 365 and Exchange Online in all our offices locally or on our cloud/hosted environments.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Administer, support and apply preventive maintenance on Office 365, Azure and Windows Server platforms and infrastructure.
- Review and improve as well as create new policies with a high focus on security for all infrastructure.
- Monitor and maintain all integrated systems inside O365 and implement where possible SSO enabled platforms and applications.
- Perform installations, configurations, migrations, backups on all cloud-based platforms and systems as well as on Servers, workstations, and mobile devices.
- Proactively search for improvements and propose new solutions for existing and new systems.
- Monitor and maintain operating systems and additional server components including but not limited to Domain Controllers, DHCP, Radius, DNS on our Active Directory.
- Apply patches to major subsystems and services, roles, and filesystem components within a Windows Systems environment and perform operating system and patch testing on all changes prior to installation.
- Monitor and review system logs and detect and troubleshoot problems.
- Write technical documentation.
- Control system access and security aspects of critical systems, cloud-based and on-premises + Wi-Fi.
- Establish and maintain suitable resource and performance monitoring on all systems.
- Demonstrate in day-to-day work adherence to security best practices and Technology Services access control and security policies.
- Provide technical support and customer service directly to end users by troubleshooting computer related issues via e-mail, phone, chat remotely or in presence to all offices.
- Research and identify solutions to software, hardware, and basic networking issues.
- Lead and support the roll-out of new projects.
- Maintain the existing IT infrastructure and the commonly used applications (local and cloud).
- Maintain current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software, and resources.
- Work closely with the existing IT team members as well as with other teams such as Legal, Cybersecurity and Cloud Eng. to support the portfolio of solutions in place and implement new solutions where applicable.
- Understand the applicable processes and procedures of the organization and make recommendations in the continual improvement of those processes and procedures, providing for management analysis and recommendations on continual improvement.
- Work non-traditional hours and respond to on-call requests to provide 24 x 7 service availability if needed.
- Ability to travel to remote locations if required.
- Ordering/installation/operation/maintenance/repairof PCs/Macs/On-Prem Servers/Networking infrastructure (LAN/WiFi/Internet/VPN) etc.
- Software installation and licencing as required.
- Working through IT support tickets.
- Occasional tasks related to building infrastructure
- Generally helping to keep all Miniclip Derby IT related areas operating efficiently.
What are we looking for?
We’re looking for a skilled communicator with good technical background who will demonstrate good social skills in a professional environment. The Systems Administrator & Support needs to be someone who enjoys working in a team with other people and is passionate and dedicated about their work.
Required experience:
- Minimum of three years of relevant Windows Server, Azure and Office 365 experience.
- Experience in troubleshooting technical problems involving software and operating systems.
- Experience in effective communication and collaborating in a high-performance team environment.
- Experience providing technical support in a customer service role.
- Experience using patience, sensitivity, and effective communication with a wide range of people, including the technically proficient and those with minimal computing experience or technical skill.
- Experience writing technical documentation for a technical audience.
- Experience in participating in diverse workgroups.
The ideal candidate will be strongly skilled in the following:
- Knowledge of Active Directory architecture and concepts.
- Knowledge on Microsoft Azure technology.
- Office365 infrastructure and concepts.
- Operating Systems (Windows, MacOS, Linux).
- Hardware/software RAID and logical volume management.
- Data backup procedures.
- Software license management.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices.
- Understanding of network topology and distributed system concepts.
- Understand system access control and security aspects of critical systems.
- Write and speak English fluently.

This is a hybrid role and you will be working in our Derby Office in the Peak District with enthusiasts and professionals from the games industry. We like to maintain a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
